The Binance spot screen offers several order types, and most beginners only ever touch the Market tab. That works, but it hands control of the price to whoever is on the other side of the book. Learning three more types, limit, stop-limit and OCO, lets you decide in advance what you will pay, where you will take profit and where you will cut a loss. Below, each one is explained with the fields you will actually see, using a simple worked example rather than theory.

Limit orders: you name the price

On the Spot trading page, choose Limit. Enter the price you are willing to pay and the amount. The order sits in the book until the market reaches your price, and it may fill in parts. If you set a buy price above the current lowest ask, it fills immediately, so check the order book first. Open orders appear under Open Orders at the bottom of the screen, where you can cancel or edit them. This is the tool to use when you are not in a hurry.

Stop-limit: a trigger plus a limit

A stop-limit has two prices. The stop is the trigger; the limit is the worst price you accept once triggered. Suppose you hold a coin and want to exit if it falls. You set a stop slightly below a recent support level and a limit a little below the stop, giving the order room to fill. If price gaps straight through your limit, the order can stay unfilled, which is the trade-off for price control. Always read both fields twice before confirming.

OCO: target and protection in one order

OCO stands for one cancels the other. On the OCO tab you enter a take-profit limit price above the market and a stop plus limit below it. Whichever side fills first cancels the other automatically. In the worked example, a holder sets a profit target and a protective exit at the same time, then does not need to watch the chart all day. If the order does not accept your prices, the app shows which field is invalid relative to the current market.

Checking what you paid afterwards

After a fill, open Orders, then Spot Order and Trade History. Each fill shows price, amount and fee, and whether you were maker or taker. Fee rates depend on your account tier and are listed on the Trading Fee page; read your own row there instead of relying on numbers from social media. Comparing a few fills from limit orders with a few from market orders is the quickest way to see what order choice costs you.

Scenario checkpoint

  • Check the order book before placing a limit buy so it does not fill instantly by mistake
  • Leave a gap between stop and limit prices so a stop-limit has room to fill
  • Review Trade History after each fill to see price, fee and maker or taker status
